StoryCorps has it right - "listening is an act of love".
If you truly love someone you do listen to them, not out of obligation but out of interest.
Their opinion matters, even when it differs from yours.
Their interests matter, even, especially, when they are not your interests.
Their stories are to be shared and appreciated for what they contributed to the person you love today.
If you say you love someone, then listen to them.
That's what love is.
